Apr 09 – Are small challenges distracting you? Have you recently felt as though a myriad of little things have happened that have accumulated into a big distraction for you? Have unplanned or unexpected little things occurred that are consuming your thinking? Are you continuing to think about or talk about them, adding further to your distraction?
Too often, when small annoyances occur all at once, we get too caught up in our irritation and do not see the opportunity that exists. We also are not using these moments to help us truly understand what we may need to better know and understand about ourselves. Not matter how small the inconvenience, insights gained can be your superpower moving forward. Every challenge is an opportunity for enlightenment. Small insights turn into powerful knowing. Accumulative insights turn into continuous growth.
Take an MM&I Moment to awaken to the opportunity hidden in these small challenges versus feeling only the frustration. Delays in traffic, having to look for your keys, an unexpected phone call as you were leaving, an inconvenient request for assistance - whatever it is for you, try to see the underlying hidden opportunity for insight. For instance, instead of allowing a delay in traffic to stress you, make the necessary phone call to confirm the delay and then use the time to better prepare for the meeting in your mind, or determine alternative routes for the future. Ask yourself if the small challenge is truly a distraction or if you are allowing it to be a distraction to avoid having to do something else you need to be doing. Ask yourself if the challenge is a blessing bringing you enlightenment to be better aware, prepared, knowledgeable, or even more patient. Once you shift to trying to see the opportunity in even the smallest challenge, you will be more focused on what is within your control versus outside of your control. In some instances, you may yourself saying it was a blessing in disguise. No matter the challenge, you are meant to triumph. It’s in your DNA.
