Are you on a treadmill or a launching pad?

August 28 – Are you on a treadmill or a launching pad? Are you putting great effort in, but feel like you’re getting nowhere? Do you feel like everybody is pacing faster than you as if you are standing still in time? Are you so focused on keeping up that you are actually falling behind?

If your vision and mission are clear, then what is bubbling up to the surface may not be evident, and therefore a little patience is necessary. If your vision and mission are not clear, then you may be focusing on areas that aren’t effectively serving you to launch into your next realm of opportunity. If you don’t have a vision or mission, then that is your biggest underlying problem. Without a why or a reason that challenges you to even higher levels of relevancy and legacy, you will limit your ability to have real impact.

Take an MM&I Moment to reawaken to your vision and mission related to all the activities you currently have in place. If you feel strong and passionate about your vision and mission, then you may need to spend less time comparing yourself to others and more time focused on the difference you can make for those you are ultimately serving and what that will entail. Revisit your mission and vision from a mindset of the next best steps for momentum building action. Look at what could propel you to your next level, even if it means there are many steps between starting and achieving. Instead of being so heavily focused on who you’re competing with, put more energy on who you should be collaborating with. Getting off the treadmill and moving forward starts with recognizing where you have been holding yourself back. Sometimes to unleash full potential you must release what no longer serves you.
