August 07 – Problems stealing the best of you? Does it feel as though it has been one problem after another lately? Are you putting out fires left and right, reacting, it seems, to everything around you with no time to think about anything else? Are you feeling stuck because of all the problems that have arisen, not sure what to tackle first or at all? Starting to feel like everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong, and you just don’t know where to begin to make it all right again?
Unexpected problems can feel overwhelming when one seems to occur after another. When it seems like everything is going wrong, it’s time to assess your overall situation to see if there are any underlying issues you may not have considered before. Beneath the surface lies the real wisdom to be gained, transforming consuming thoughts and impulsive reactions into an inspired leap of faith.
Take an MM&I Moment to awaken to any connections that may exist between the problems you are experiencing. List all the problems or challenges you have faced recently. What do they have in common? List all the recent “fires you have had to put out.” What have been the key reasons for your need to be so reactive? How could these situations been better anticipated? How could these situations been avoided all together? What common factors are you seeing that you may not have considered before? Now list any problem that has you stuck in what to do next or is consuming your thinking, keeping you from focusing on other things that need to be done. How are you stuck? Why does it feel like there is no way forward? Every problem is an opportunity to be better, be more prepared, be wiser or be more decisive. Every problem is an opportunity in disguise. Revealing the opportunity that a problem is hiding is where your true brilliance is unleashed.
