Sept 28 – Could a process or system help? Do you find yourself wishing others would read your mind and simply anticipate your needs so that you don’t have to be continuously bothered by certain things? Do you get frustrated by having to say certain things over and over again? Do you feel like you are answering the same questions over and over again? Do you have a hard time putting your hands on things that should be easy to access?
When frustration like this occurs, it is time to take a step back and see things from everyone else’s perspective. This means digging deep to understand why this repetitive or unanticipated behavior is happening in the first place. If it’s worth repeating, it’s worth documenting. Creating order and understanding are pinnacles for success.
Take an MM&I Moment to awaken to how you can make things easier for yourself and others. List things that have you frustrated in the ways described above. What is it you wish people could anticipate? What is it that you wish you didn’t have to explain over and over again? What is you feel as though is not getting through in one way or another? Then consider this. Is there a process you could develop to alleviate the situation? Do you need to take some time to better explain or document what you want so others can understand and then know what to do without your assistance every time? Is there a system you can devise that can better alert you and others to anticipate and proactively handle situations? Whatever it is, there are options to get you out of your funk and frustration and back on track to what you really want to be doing.
