August 5 - Is what's important mattering? Are you racing through each day doing many things, but feeling as though you haven't accomplished a thing? Do you find yourself wishing for a miracle moment to afford the time to do what you would really like to be doing? Are you involved in activities or projects that you are not passionate about, but feel an obligation to push forward? With so much demanded upon us each and every day, it is easy to lose sight of what really matters to us as we are pulled in one direction and then another direction. As we continue to allow everything around us to dictate what we do and how we live or work, we can easily become disenchanted or even feel disconnected, causing a void in our overall satisfaction about our lives.
Take an MM&I Moment to reawaken your focus on what matters most to you. Make a list of 10 things that are most important to you that bring or would bring you joy or satisfaction. Then read through this list and check off the ones that are not getting the attention deserved despite being important to you. Do not allow your belief in lack of time or anything rationalize why you cannot give these things priority. Instead, view your time and what is demanded upon you as pieces of a puzzle that are to be fitted into place. Part of feeling whole is to honor the pieces within you that are most important to you. Commit yourself to doing at least one thing every day, no matter how small, that honors what is important. When you do this, you will be amazed at how much easier it is to get other things done, because you are doing it in the spirit of feeling satisfied versus deprived.
