Dec 18 - Are you busy or actively engaged? Is everything that you are busy doing moving your most desired wants and goals forward? Or is what is keeping you busy distracting you from what you truly want and desire? There is a difference between being busy and being actively engaged in one’s life. When you are actively engaged, you are intentional and purposeful in every action that you take and decision that you make for yourself and on behalf of others. You are making choices even in response to others’ requests versus just doing what others expect or want you to be doing.
Take an MM&I Moment to awaken to how your busy-ness may not be effectively serving you or others as well as you might think. Consider your long list of to-do’s and responsibilities and assess each of them with these questions. Is it helping you move something important forward? Is it building upon what has already been accomplished? Is it serving someone in a manner that is beneficial to everyone, including you? Is it essential to your wellbeing, contentment, satisfaction, or the value that you bring? If you answered “No” to any of these questions, choose to eliminate that busy-making task from you list. Stop doing it. Hand it off. And realize the true power of being actively engaged in activities of your choosing and merit.
Wide Awake Quote of the Week
“Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment … Seeming to do is not doing.” – Thomas Edison
