Feb 1, 2016 - Are you focusing effectively? Do you feel that there are a myriad of things and situations that continually distract you from what you really want to be doing? Are you having a difficult time knowing what is the best use of your time and resources with so much coming at you? Are you not making the progress that you desire, which is causing more frustration and disappointment? When you have a lot going on, even when it is all good, it can seem impossible to focus effectively as you attempt to manage it all. The key to better focus is more effective use of delegation, discipline, and deadlines regarding your priorities and how you manage them.
Take an MM&I Moment to review your situation as if you are an outsider looking in. Be honest with yourself about what is really going on. How much are you doing that could be or should be delegated to someone else? Even if you don't have "that person" to delegate to, is it possible it is time to bring such a person on board? How disciplined are you at actually scheduling time specifically for what you consider to be a priority? If you aren't making time for it, then you are subconsciously saying it isn't as important as you profess it to be. How are you creating a pathway towards completion with a deadline? Setting deadlines for yourself helps you see an end in sight and better drives the initiative's value towards being accomplished. Even when it doesn't feel like it, you truly do have the power to shift into being more productive and effective.
