Nov 23, 2015 - Is your past impeding your present? Are you caught up in a mindset of allowing the past to consume too much of your thinking, perhaps more than you realize? Do you feel you missed out on something, and cannot ever get it back? Do you wish certain things were the way they used to be instead of what you are going through right now? The only part of the past you should bring with you into the future are any lessons learned and memories cherished. Anything else is simply clouding up your thinking, making it difficult to appreciate what is all around you and passionately focus on what lies ahead.
Take an MM&I Moment to transform your thinking about the past into something productive and useful instead of allowing it to be your excuse or reason for doubt. Allow it to inspire you versus conspire against you. First, write down five favorite memories to get your mind in a better place emotionally. Then consider the things from your past that keep nagging at you, not as yourself, but as if you were a spectator watching from the sidelines. What do you see about the situation that you did not see before? What can you learn and take away from the situation that will aid you in the here and now? You have within you the ability to leave every part of your past behind that no longer serves you. And you will find that once you have done this, the future looks even brighter and your present is truly a great place to be.
