July 28, 2014 - Are you losing momentum? Had you been progressing quite effectively on a particular initiative and now it feels as though it is not moving forward as you would like it to be? Do you feel that some momentum has been lost and you are not quite sure what your next step should be? Are you reliant on others' contributions and they are now part of the hold up? Has something occurred that has put a snag in the original flow of the project, and now you must regroup a bit to regain some momentum? The key to anything you desire to move forward is to remind yourself why it was and still is important.
Take an MM&I Moment to confirm why you want to see this particular effort through to its desired end. Note the satisfaction you and others will feel. Note the benefits that will be gained as a result of its completion. Note what it will mean in new opportunities. Now use these reminders to spark initiative in everyone involved in the process. Remind them what will be gained and realized. Discuss how the unexpected "snag" could be a blessing in disguise. This often spawns an even better means of moving forward. List all steps that can be taken and re-evaluate who is best to take these steps towards completion. Sometimes a bit of shuffling is all that is needed to get the ball rolling again.
