Could simplification be your answer?

Nov 25, 2013 - Could simplification be your answer? Are you feeling that things have gotten much more complicated, complex or challenging than you thought they would be? Do you feel like you are spinning your wheels in order to make progress on a particular initiative?  When we are impacted by a more complicated or complex situation, or experiencing greater challenges than anticipated, we can easily get so caught up in what is overwhelming us about it, that we impede our ability to make progress even more. Taking a step back to look at the situation in simpler terms may help you better determine your next steps so that progress can begin again.

Take an MM&I Moment to look at your current situation from a different perspective. What unique talents and skills do you bring to the situation that need to be better leveraged or focused? What aspects of the situation are prohibiting you from being able to do your best work?  How can you make a particular portion of the effort easier or less complicated? How can you divide up the responsibilities to get more accomplished in a systemized or piece-by-piece manner so you can see progress happening again? The idea of dividing and conquering can be just as much about how you tackle a situation as it is in having several people helping. When you divide and conquer in how you plan and execute, as well as with whom you execute it, you will be amazed at how far you can go.
