Feeling taxed in ways other than income?

April 15, 2013 - Feeling taxed in ways other than income? Are you feeling taxed in ways other than income? Are you feeling the pressure of obligations bearing down on you with respect to your time?  Are you feeling pulled in multiple directions and having difficulty deciding how to manage everything effectively and efficiently?  Have recent unexpected disruptions impacted your ability to focus on what you want to and need to be focusing on? Are you merely thinking about all that you have to get done, so your progress is being further delayed?  When you begin to feel the pressure of stress mentally, emotionally and physically, it can escalate into causing you even more stress as it controls your ability to function effectively. The best thing you can do for yourself right now is take a break and allow yourself to regain some equilibrium and your sanity.

Take an MM&I Moment to give yourself permission to catch your breath. Take a break from your state of chaos in order to do something entirely for you that you would enjoy and find solace or replenishment by doing it. Don't feel guilty about taking this time. Consider it a nano-sabbatical for your mind, body and soul. Do something that brings you great joy or will calm you, whether it is watching your favorite movie, meditating, taking a stroll out in nature, or shooting some hoops.  Consider devoting 10 minutes to writing as many things as you can think of that make you grateful, no matter how silly some of the things you write may appear OR take 10 minutes to list all the things you are looking forward to doing or achieveing in the future. Make this time totally focused on being your own close friend.  Don't involve anyone else, but give your mind a chance to shift, appreciate the break, and then refocus in a more positive, empowered way. Shifting your mindset in this manner will help re-energize you.  You will be amazed at how you will be able to tackle things better. Taking your nano-breaks on a regular basis could help you realize some breakthroughs too.
