April 1, 2013 - Are you fooling yourself? Are you fooling yourself into believing that you must have all the answers or know all the options before proceeding with a particular initiative or project you have underway? When you get caught up in a need to have all the answers or options first, you can easily get stuck in a quagmire of never having all that you need to proceed. To truly make progress, your best opportunities come from taking action on what you know right now and therefore, what you can do right now based on what you currently know. Sometimes the options you need to consider should be considered before learning of any other options to gain the necessary insight to confirm they are viable.
Take an MM&I Moment to list what answers you have been able to find out and then list what you still feel that you need to know. Based on what you already know, what action can be taken while you get the additional information that you believe that you need? You may be surprised at what transpires because you began to take steps forward while still learning and exploring. You will also find that by taking action on what you know, you may determine that what you thought you needed to know wasn't necessary after all.
