Are you trying to prove something?

April 16, 2012 – Are you trying to prove something? Do you seek validation or vindication in what you are trying to achieve? Are you continuously justifying your actions? Do you always have to have the last word or be right? Are you out to prove something to others or even yourself? Do you know others like this? There is vulnerability associated with achievement when it is aligned more with its outcome as it relates solely to you versus being of value beyond you and for others. Turn this vulnerability into opportunity and authenticity. Instead of seeking validation or vindication for yourself, seek value … for you and for others.

Take an MM&I Moment to ask yourself why you are trying to achieve or do what you have set out to do. What will ultimately result? Who will benefit in addition to you? How will they benefit? Why will they benefit?  When your actions are as much about what they can do for others as they are about what they will do for you, then they are genuine and will bring value even beyond what you may imagine. Let go of vindication. Let go of validation. Open your arms to the real value you have within you to share and shower upon others and watch how achievements blossom all around you.

Synergized Quote of the Week

“One who seeks achievement for personal gain will ultimately get less out of life than the one who seeks achievement for value itself.” – Eugene Delacroix
