Nov 22, 2010 - Have you appreciated what has gone wrong lately? I know what you are thinking. Why would anyone appreciate what has not gone as hoped, planned or anticipated? Because when you view anything and everything from a mindset of appreciation, you are in a better place to truly see a hidden opportunity … to grow … to learn … to better anticipate … to consider other resources … to try another approach … to make the absolute best of what has been handed to you.
Take an MM&I Moment this Thanksgiving week to appreciate what has not gone exactly as you had wished. Then for each situation, note at least one thing you have learned, realized, gained, shifted, redirected, considered, explored, pondered or understood as a result. In this very process alone, you may just find a hidden gem of wisdom or insight that will take you further than you thought possible. And that is when being thankful brings the greatest blessing of all … acceptance and moving forward.
